Valentine's Day Card-Making Workshop
Friday, Feb 3, @ 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Join AAC instructor Jennifer Penick for a creative night of Valentine's card-making! This art workshop has been crafted for any and all skill levels.

You'll get the chance to make your very own relief stamps using two easy-to-learn printmaking techniques. And you'll then turn them into a series of unique hand-printed cards! Let Jennifer provide creative guidance and see where the inspiration takes you.

Surface Design
Tuesdays, Feb 7 thru Apr 4, @ 6:30 - 8:30 pm

In this class, we will design a wide variety of patterns, using several techniques in the process. We'll marry art and craft by looking at the use of pattern in the decorative arts and then using printing, painting, stamp-carving, and mark-making techniques to make our own artfully decorated surfaces.

These surfaces include journal covers, wrapping paper, cards, fabric, and up-cycled items. Using the elements of design, including contrast, balance, scale, and color, and students will make a "pattern journal" to keep and use as a reference for future projects. Beginners and advanced students are welcome!

Supplies are not included in the cost of this class. One week prior to the class' start date, a supply list will be emailed to all students. Class will not meet February 14 or February 21.

Drawing I-III: The Art of Seeing
Tuesdays, Feb 7 thru Apr 4, @ 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Process-oriented exercises in line, value, mark-making, and gesture will help you record what you see in pencil or charcoal. Using a range of 2D and 3D subjects, including still life, the human form, masterworks, and animals. Beginners are welcome, as well as experienced students interested in refreshing rusty drawing skills.

Drawing II students will be provided more complex subject matter and technique instruction, including the introduction of color. Drawing III students may work with the instructor to develop independent projects.

Supplies are not included in the cost of this class. One week prior to the class' start date, a supply list will be emailed to all students. Class will not meet February 14.

Experimental Painting
Wednesdays, Feb 8 thru Mar 29, @ 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Art can be exploratory and fun, so why not approach it as play? In this acrylic painting course, problem solving, spontaneity, chance, and unique materials will direct artistic processes yielding interesting and complex works of art.

Esteemed instructor Stephanie Lane has a soft spot for expressive painting and mixed media, so we'll spend some time exploring these approaches as well.

All skill levels are welcome to explore representational and/or abstract painting in this relaxed, supportive class. Our instructor will offer one-on-one instruction, and lead informal discussions to create a learning environment where knowledge and skills are shared by all participants.

Supplies are not included in the cost of this class. One week prior to the class' start date, a supply list will be emailed to all students.

Painting with Acrylic
Wednesdays, Feb 8 thru Mar 29, @ 6:30 - 9 pm

Designed to offer you a solid foundation in the fundamentals of acrylic painting, this course will cover various painting tools, preparation, and color mixing. You’ll stretch canvas, complete color theory studies, and observe demos in paint application. Working from observation and photographs, you will hone painting skills while developing value, space, and form.

Beginners are welcome, as well as students looking to enhance their painting skills with a more academic approach to the subject. Returning students will build upon techniques learned previously, while receiving critical feedback and direction.

You asked, we listened! You asked for more time in the classroom, so we've extended class time by a half an hour. Supplies are not included in the cost of this class. One week prior to the class' start date, a supply list will be emailed to all students.
